Michigan Eye Institute's eye care team includes ophthalmologists and optometrists with premier training and expertise . They received their training at some of the most prestigious institutions in the United States including Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Beaumont Hospital. Our eye surgeons are all Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and all serve as Assistant Clinical Professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
Not all "board-certified" eye surgeons are members of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Founded in 1916, the American Board of Ophthalmology is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States. The ABO was the first American Board established to certify medical specialists and is one of 24 specialty Boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Medical Association.
Our Flint Eye doctors Keoleian, Diskin and Diskin have over 60 years combined experience in medical and surgical treatment of the eye and are among the most experienced in the United States. Together they have performed thousands of surgical and laser vision correction procedures. The are responsible for introducing a number of innovations into the area, including the Hyperpulse microincision cataract surgery, CustomVue LASIK, Acrysof Blue-Blocker lens implantation, the Restor lens implantation, Glaucoma implants, Glaucoma surgery with antimetabolites, Diode Cyclophotocoagulation. They continue their extensive training regularly throughout the year at major medical centers and national Eye meetings across the United States.
